You may substitute shallots and garlic for hing. Â Not quite the same thing. Â You may buy the spice, and many others online, Amazon is not a bad place to do so.Â

The way you explain things makes it so much less scary to me. I'm a terrible cook, but I never get stressed out watching your videos. Plus I don't have to try and find vegetarian replacements for this or that because everything you do is vegetarian.

I make this all the time I use diffrent spices but it didint know I was making indian food , I like this channel because she cooks with ingredients I like to eat. Plus I'm vegetarian
Rice should be cooked together, may the different rice next time try adding little more water in beginning.
Thank you! I made this tonight for dinner and it 'was' yummy, but after the cooking period, my rice wasn't only half done. I had to add extra water twice to keep it from sticking even though it was on low, then it turned mushy. What did I do wrong? Would it help to cook the rice separately then add them together instead or will it take away from the flavor since the rice didn't cook in with the spices?
