We used to make these in homek class back in the 80's. If y'all want a faster version put it all in the blender with some ice cubes. Then you don't need the ice cream mixer.

PSA: dedicated ice cream makers usually don't have very powerful motors. To make sure it works, make sure you turn the ice cream maker on before you pour in the mix. Otherwise it might freeze too fast, and get stuck.
I may have had to mix an entire batch of ice cream by hand…
