hey i'm from trinidad we cook dhal the same way here we eat it with curry meats and roti or rice …it taste grt however you can also put a garlic and half small onion for more flavor trust me…i'm a cook .
I am definitely going to try (but without the ginger) I could almost smell it from here 🙂 and Yes I too absolutely loved the story at the end. Keep posting.
