  1. I have been making a version of this for years. You can sub 1cup whole wheat and one cup rye flour (plus 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour). Sometimes I sprinkle caraway or sesame seeds on top, which is really good. I've used this recipe to make olive bread, raisin bread, cheesy-herb bread –it's a very versatile, forgiving recipe. 5 stars!

  3. Hey Laura, I am baking the bread right now and I have a few questions. 1: How much time do you let it rise for? 2: If I don’t have a Dutch oven, can I use a cast iron skillet tray in the oven?
