My Nana was from England , we always had Toad in the Hole / and Beef Steak and Kidney Pie . Yorkshire Pudding with every Roast Beef / Christmas Pudding & Christmas Cake homemade every year.
Yer batter is too runny. And yer too far away from the oven
Utterly baffled why you didn't just cook this one in the kitchen, instead of the backyard.
Thank you for this! As a regular Toad in the Hole cooker, I have a couple of tips for you:
1. The batter will benefit from resting after you have made it, a couple of hours is good,
2. Just before you pour it, beat as much air into the batter as possible, with an electric whisk if you have one. The Toad in the Hole batter will rise as it cooks, and the sausage "toads" will be at the bottom the holes created.

For the american version you could use the chicken gravy you would normally put with biscuits. I bet that would absolutely slap.
Also for a more hybrid, roast chicken breast (skin on) with chicken gravy would be amazing too.

You should make the batter a few hours before and keep it in the fridge stirring it occasionally.
I've been holding off making these for years because I thought I needed actual British Bangers. Happy to find that's not the case, I've added pork sausages to my shopping list. Thank you!

Looks like bollocks! Make some calamari with garlic onions and peppers. Sam the look on your face clearly said it was not worth sharing with Max and the boys. That is dog food at best.
What if you subbed Italian sausages? Or chorizo? That could be good. Or maybe season the batter with BFF. Hmmm…

sam kudos to u for trying that dish..my fave btw..u need to grind up ur own pork fat ratio for ur own sausage..second the only ratio u need for batter for 8 sausages is 1 cup plain flour 1 cup ss milk and lil water maybe 20% 3 eggs minimum…1 large onion fried with sausages to brown off..put into an aluminium tray onions on bottom spread out sausages not too much oil ok..heat up oven to 220 fan add batter mix while oil still hot shove in oven for around 35 mins or just before u see burnt edges..i would love some new chefs knives hint hint..give it a try.

Bangers is just another name for sausages.
Should be cooked longer too.
The onions should be sliced in onion gravy and it’s nice served with mash and carrots.
A splash of HP on it doesn’t harm either.
This was our dinner tonight! We made ours with some really nice farm direct beef sausages. Super simple to make, and absolutely delicious! We’ll definitely be making this again! 🎉
