I as most live in or around the Binghamton area. Love what you did with your spiedie’s looks great. One thing my may want to try to get the marinade to stick to the chicken better is to add an egg to it.
Northeast pa i lived off of them for years and they are always if u let them marmate enough
LUPO’S in ENDWELL, NY…simply the best!
It's really best to marinate it 2/3 days
Lupo’s! Lamb spiedies!
3 HOURS!?!??!?!?!?! No no no no no fuckin NO. Marinate them AT LEAST a full day, 2-3 is better. Do not use Italian dressing and call it spiedies, it's the same thing as calling something cooked in a crock pot "bbq" down in the south. You will be politely yet firmly asked to leave and the ghost of a native will rise from the grave to come and haunt you. As for sauce… we usually just use some of the reserved marinade or you can cook down the used marinade if you want less it less tangy. But your sauce wasn't completely out of the realm of possibility. Other serving suggestions are making a whole sub sandwich, putting them in a salad, or IF (big if) you have leftovers, shred them up and use them as a base for chicken salad the next day.
This is a Binghamton NY Special, Italian dressing will not work, and your marinade is extremely basic compared to the real thing, its my wifes favorite sandwich
Spiedes are NOT MADE WITH ITALIAN SEASONING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
salamidas >>> lupos
Sam I gotta say it. As someone that lived in Binghamton NY for years. I am so glad you did this. This is a staple for us that live in the triple cities. It's absolutely amazing. This makes me so happy to see you recreate this
As a resident of the Binghamton area, please, PLEASE, marinate for 2-3 DAYS, not hours.
Looks tasty.
Molested that bun getting the chicken off lol
I always make Spiedies with pork and mint (dried is okay for marinade, fresh for garnish) , tons of fresh garlic. 🤤
“”;-)””🍢🍡😎👍Awsum!!!!!!!!!!!
👍👍👍👍👍 very good
Great job on the marinade. It's spot on. Only thing missing is some Felix Roma Italian bread.
Speedies are great, been eating them for 30 years. First had them at the great NY state fair. If you can't find speedie brand in your grocery store try good seasons Italian dressing packs.
I say taking more than one bites shows how delicious the food is!
This channel is awesome!
Jesus 10 minute video just for some grilled chicken?
Never knew they were called Spiedies, as I've been making these same sandwiches for years, for college football game day with buddies at the house. I always have grilled onions to add. Quick tip: Best Italian dressing in a bottle is the old Kraft Seven Seas Viva Italian. Sadly, I can't find it in stores, so I buy 6 bottles at a time on Amazon. Best ever with bright tangy flavor. My ex-wife used to work for a major catering outfit, and they used Viva Italian exclusively. Check it out, Sam! Take a tip from a long time viewer and fan of your channel.
Loved eating spiedies visiting my Grandparents in Endicott. Not chicken though. You have to have the pork.
Looks delicious. That Fireboard thermometer looks like overpriced junk though. >$150 device with wires versus <$100 for a Meater or MeatStick that has fully wireless temperature probes.
he only makes dumb bar food.
Grew up upstate and I love a spedie
Kroger used to sell Salamida brand spiedie marinade (not sure if they still do). Also worth noting these are traditionally served on freshly sliced Italian bread
A little twist on this recipe, I marinate chicken wings in State Fair brand spiedie sauce, (available in any grocery store in NYS), overnight then grill them over charcoal, haven't met anybody yet that doesn't like my grilled wings, spiedie sauce is also known as zhu-zhu, p.s. Italian dressing ain't even close! Sorry Sam
Are we not going to talk about what he did to that bun?
