  1. I made this last night with a few changes using what I had on hand. I used portobello mushrooms, swiss cheese, leftover penne pasta I had in the fridge and substituted the potato chips with french fired onions. I was really good! I agree the vermouth adds a lot! I did make it ahead of time, put in a greased casserole and heated thru later, adding the french fried onions in the last 5 minutes of baking. Will try Sam's version when I have those ingredients! This will go on my "make again" list for sure 🙂

  2. We're making this tonight with leftover Thanksgiving turkey (that we cooked Sam's way by spatchcocking the turkey and then dry brining it for 2 days before roasting it in the oven. Delicious ). I'm sure that it's going to be great, every other Sam's recipe that we have made was. And we've made quite a few of them.

  3. I didn't make the rue/rou and used 1 can of cream of mushroom, a small container of sour cream and a little heavy cream along with the other ingredients (no onions)- turned out simply fantastic! A new go to comfort food. Oh, I didn't use the egg noodles in order to cut down on the carbs a bit.
