If you have means to blow the soot off the coals, it would make the steak cooked on coals look so much better and leave no residue. I saw it done once but I forget what he used.

Been using my charcoal chimney with lump charcoal for sometime. Good to see its getting the respect that is long overdue. It is a blow torch for grilling. Great for ribeye, sirloin, and hamburgers!
