Cinco de Mayo was a holiday that was celebrated by Mexican Americans here in the 🇺🇸 Because of the lack of representation and the media’s negative portrayal of Mexican Americans/Chicanos at that time, they wanted something positive to celebrate and bring awareness. 💕 it was really during the Chicano Movement of the 1960-70’s, that it became more popular 🙂
