  2. I've made this 3 times now. Family loves it. Flavor Tip: cook it a day ahead of time… yep eat it reheated. It's Italian food, always better the next day. You're welcome 🙂

  3. Easy peasy hubby approved! Had to settle for ground chuck roast just had shoulder surgery and couldn’t man handle my kitchen to grind mean and my butcher said nope not doing short ribs 🙂

  4. I've said this in a few random places: this recipe was my intro/gateway to Sam. He was on TV in San Diego and this was the first recipe I made of his. Made it for my wife of now almost 20 years when we were dating – so that worked out all right. Am sure its even more baller with the short rib – but his OG recipe without it – if you're broke just make it even if you don't have the meat. Do get the anchovy though – that's a must – it's not detectable as fish and the flavor it adds is irreplaceable. Have made this at least once a year ever since – it's a true more than the sum of its parts kind of thing…

  5. Almost the same origin story for the Cobb Salad. Late night, thrown together with whatever was leftover in the closed kitchen for a valued and hungry customer. My putanesca has a bizarre secret ingredient.

  7. I was watching one of the BBQ specialists on YouTube and he said to put a couple of ice cubes into your meat grinder at the end of the grind and it forces all of the meat out of the grinder and it makes it easier to clean. He said that the water doesn't have any effect on the ground meat.

  8. The first time my kids ate anchovies was when I made this pasta when they were littles. Introducing your kids to flavors at a young age is important, they're teens now and there's nothing they won't eat, they're not afraid of new flavors and foods.
