  1. Just made this for the first time tonight. And you are right, the sauce IS Boss!! It was absolutely delicious!! I made white cheddar mashed red potatoes and it went extremely well with the dish. I will absolutely be making this again, and have already shared the recipe with friends and family. Thank you for sharing!!😊

  2. I made this the other night. Very good. I left out the sugar and used sweat onions instead of yellow which made the recipe more than sweet enough. I also used chicken stock instead of beef which made the dish a little more mellow, but still very flavorful and the sauce was still brown. Like most things – it was better the second day. 🙂

  3. Are you telling me french onion soup is made that easy 🙂 lol i am in Australia and always brought the dam dry packet to make it but always throught it tasted horible. Never took the time to look into making it but this is going to be my Saturday night meal 🙂 yummy

  5. In South Africa we've been cooking chicken in french onion soup for years. Some of our recipes include mixing apricot chutney with the onion soup and baking the chicken in that. It's very good. But we don't do the cheese over chicken.

  7. Great recipe. I'm making this. If you're on a heart healthy diet like I am skip the extra salt and limit the brown sugar. You definitely want to release the fond or residue from cooking the chicken so a red wine or just unsalted broth/stock works well.
