Sam, youre driving me nuts! Manual release is when you flip the steam vent π€― what it does on its own is the automatic release or natural release, anything but manual π

Just made this today using your recipe. My wife has a couple really good Indian restaurants near her work and eats it for lunch. She said this was perfect. I thought it was great too and loved that it's not the most fattening dish but filling and so easy to do in the instant pot.
This would normally be on the bottom of my list on things to try but here I am making it for like the 6th time. So good! Please fix your website recipes though, they're a disaster.

Made this with lamb instead of chicken, and it was amazing!! Just after this video was posted, I made it as is, with chicken. I loved it and could not wait to make it again. Last night, I made it again but decided to make it with lamb instead of chicken. My god it was great. It reminded me a lot of my favorite dish from a local Indian restaurant, Lamb Vindaloo. I just need to learn to make some good Naan bread to go with it.
Iβve made this twice so far and it has came out excellent each time. I added about two tablespoons of a hot sauce (That added heat without altering the flavor) great stuff! I want to add in bigger pieces of onion the next time I make it.

Your videos are fantastic, and the food you make is delicious. I usually don't have issues or comments about what you cook; although what you made is butter chickenish, it needs a few things to make it actual butter chicken.
Understanding that depending on where you live, some spices may be hard to get, you need to use Kashmiri Chili powder for authentic flavour. Your marinade needs the addition of cumin, turmeric, yogurt and lemon juice and should be marinated for several hours or overnight.
The sauce needs the addition of fenugreek powder and should be finished with some heavy cream, and the butter stirred into it after the chicken has simmered.

What are the swirly bird things on the counter called? I work in catering and know they are very helpful in keeping flying insects away! Cant find them though!
Iβm not a purist about the authenticity of a recipe but what makes butter chicken butter chicken is the sprinkle of dried fenugreek leaves (kasuri methi in case you need to find it in an Indian/Asian store) once the dish is done. Try it. It will taste just the that in a restaurant.
My daughter and I liked it, but we felt it was missing something. Next time I'll incorporate some yogurt into the recipe.
