1 Cup of Granulated Sugar
1 Tbsp of Instant Yeast
Zest of 1 Orange
1 Tbsp of Vanilla Extract
1 Tbsp of Salt
1/2 cup of Milk

My mother used the same recipe, with the exception of the orange zest. She added a tablespoon of anise seeds. 4th generation continuing the tradition 😊

I just made this with instant yeast and followed exact recipe. My dough did not rise and is heavy as a brick. What’s the problem?

Absolutely proof the yeast! I love Laura, but the American "instant yeast" does NOT work in this recipe. I wasted so many ingredients following this. I made it again, used yeast, the correct way. We live, and learn! Happy Easter all! ❤

This looks fantastic! But, I must be over-thinking the eggs. They confuse me.
Laura are you sure the recipe calls for 6 cops of flour and not 5 because I tried this recipe and the dough was not as sticky as yours. It was drier and when I baked it it was very dry.
