  1. I made this tonight without mint as I couldn’t find any. Also I added chopped orange bell pepper to the meatballs. The meatballs turned out great they were very fresh tasting. The sauce was ok but not the best one I’ve had. Over all it was very delicious

  2. If anyone wants to come back to you in argument of what is 'authentic', IGNORE! There is no such thing.
Each part of Greece has different ways, different thoughts, different customs, … from one suburb to the next & from one island to the next. Combine that with a time frame; what was a Greek meatball now days? 20 years ago? 100 years ago? 500 years ago or even older? Intermingle that with migrations or invasions over the millennia… EVERYTHING changes!
You're right… it's about what suits & what tastes good!

  3. There maybe a lot of variations to suit anyone's taste but the traditional Greek Meatballs mixture is as above but also add 1 egg, bit of oil, and a bit of wet bread. This will make the meatballs softer when eating. No dill is used in this dish. Frying after coating them with flour. From the herbs the prominent aroma should be mint, so use more than the other herbs.

  7. These meatballs are called Kafta in Lebanon. I didn’t know Greece claimed them 😂 In Lebanon we also spread the meat mixture in a pan, top it with potatoes, onions and slices of tomatoes and bake them with tomato sauce on top
