Can you use frozen butternut squash?
Can I use cream cheese instead of goat cheese or ricotta if I don't have either?
I use butternut squash too, for the same reason BUT boost the flavor by adding a small mashed sweet potato, it tastes great! Also, I don't puree my filling, I just mash it, so it has more body and texture, but is reasonably smooth – canned puree is too soggy, lacks texture.
I always use butternut squash; prefer it. 🙂

It seems like I needed about 20 times the amount of liquid/egg you used in yours. When I tried to repeat this recipe, the dough wasn't dough, it was flour with some lumps in it.

I am going to try this with kabocha! I find it sweeter than butternut squash and not stinky like pumpkin.

If it makes you feel better, butternut squash is called butternut pumpkin in Australia.
